Emmy Besset had siblings Ernest Edward Kensing, Seth Kensing, Lee Roy Kensing, Esther (Kensing) Jordan, Wilbur Perry Kensing, Richard Alfred Kensing, and El Roy Kensing. She married Jack Douglas Bessett, Sr. on February 21, 1948. She married Jack Douglas Bessett on February 21, 1948. They had children Cheryl Lee (Bessett) Roberson and Jack Douglas Bessett, Jr.. Emmy Besset died at age 77 years old on June 14, 1999 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, and was buried at Seaside Funeral Home & Memorial Park 4357 Ocean Dr, in Corpus Christi.

In 1921, in the year that Emmy (Kensing) Besset was born, on March 4, Warren G. Harding became President. Previously a U.S. Senator, Lieutenant Governor, and Ohio State Senator, Harding was a popular President. But many scandals plagued his short administration (he died in office after 2 and a half years), including the revelations of one of his mistresses and the Teapot Dome scandal. Historically, Harding is rated as one of the worst Presidents.

In 1930, when she was merely 9 years old, on August 6th, N.Y. Supreme Court Judge Joseph Crater went through papers in his office, destroyed some of them, withdrew all his money from the bank - $5,150, sold his stock, met friends at a restaurant for dinner and disappeared after getting into a taxi (or walking down the street - his friends' testimony later changed). His disappearance was reported to the police on September 3rd - almost a month later. His wife didn't know what happened, his fellow Justices had no idea, and his mistresses (he had several) said that they didn't know. While his disappearance was front page news, his fate was never discovered and after 40 years the case was closed, still without knowing if Crater was dead or alive.
