She married Archie Rupert William Matthews in 1912, and had children Amy Evelyn Matthews, Dorothy Matthews, Bertha Sophia Matthews, and Archie Rupert Matthews. Emma Matthews died at age 79 years old on August 22, 1970 in Colac, Colac Otway Shire County.
