"I enjoy thinking about the universe... its patterns, nature, content, humor, movement, creatures, time, demensions, and its meaning if it has any...
I enjoy looking at people's faces... mostly in pictures and paintings and sculpture, because real people become uncomfortable if you stare at them... especially if they don't know who you are and you stare at their faces up close...
I enjoy observing behavior... in animals and in people. Close candid observation is really an art, because animals will run away if you approach too close; and again, people just don't like to be watched...
I enjoy interacting with people, especially children. It's exciting when two people (one being yourself) become engaged and interested in one another; the more interested, the more excited they are; and the more engaged, the more satisfied. Social behavior is such a wonderful and intricate phenomenon that I am excited to be a player within it.
I enjoy my youth, in that when I make big mistakes they can be excused as "Oh, she's just a kid"... and I am generally allowed to be more spontaneous and preposterous than my parents' generation is now. I've always had the impression that as you age, your means of socially-accepted exploration of the world become more restricted...
I enjoy danger... physical danger (standing at the edge of a cliff, slicing the underside of my wrist, driving fast cars) and psychological danger (saying provocative things to my parents to see how much they will tolerate, wearing inappropriate clothes for an occasion, appearing as a strange guest at a party I was never invited to).
I enjoy sports, especially basketball.
I enjoy men.
I enjoy this random assortment of things that I happen to like, just because I am me: visiting the ocean; the band They Might Be Giants; the musicians Simon and Garfunkel; the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony; Ella Fitzgerald's voice; hot weather; walnut trees; abandoned barns you can snoop around in; rats' feet and other adorable things that make my mouth water; spooky mannequins displaying wigs for old ladies; attics; chills; sneezing; things that vibrate; snow holes in snow banks built by children; the actor Eddie Murphy; bizarre dreams; expensive clothes I can't afford; the smell of tomato stems; my friends Emma, Jenn, Sadie, Jess, Karla, Greg, Laci, Abbi, Jack, and Martine; and the other people John, Ariel, Jarod, Dr. F, Norm, Will, Tori, Tierry, and Justus.
Certainly, I treasure freedom in all its forms.
... and I'm slightly romantic so I have to say that, overall, I love love.
Em"
