He was the parent of Carol Ann Ingersoll Hawkins. He was the parent of Judith Elaine Ingersoll. He married Yoshiko Ogawa, and they had a child Rita Hawkins. He would also marry Virginia Maude Benson, and they had a child Jack William Hawkins. Elvey Hawkins died at age 72 years old on March 24, 1992 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, and was buried on April 1, 1992 at National Memorial Cemetery Of Arizona Section 18D Site 686 North Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix.
