She had siblings Barbara Ethel Buchanan, Charles Thomas Buchanan, Ivy Jean Buchanan, Jessie Marion Buchanan, John "Jack" William Buchanan, Andrew "Jim" James Buchanan, George Alexander Buchanan, and Ellen Elizabeth Buchanan. She married Edward James Pitts in 1910, and had children Roy Edward Pitts and Vera Louisa Pitts. Elsie Pitts died at age 77 years old on December 13, 1971 in Warrong.
