Introduction

Elmo was born in Ohio on June 21, 1915. The family moved to Indiana in the late ‘30’s or early ‘40’s in search of work. Indiana was known for being an industrial area with many factories. Dad found work at Bendix and grandpa worked at wheelabrators.

Elmo finished high school and attended a trade school after to Lear tool and die.

Elmo was a devout Christian. He helped build the church both physically and by inviting people to attend. He taught Sunday school every week to 12/13 year old boys for many years. He never sought the leadership role of the ss departments.

Elmo was not a veteran as he failed the test to enter military life. I was told he had “flat feet” that eliminated him.
Professional Career

Elmo worked 44 years at bendix as a tool and die maker. We were always told that he could not tell us what he did because it was a secret. Bendix had contracts with military and he was sworn to secrecy.
