Ellen Livoti of Islip Terrace, Suffolk County, NY was born on July 12, 1916 to Benjamin Scialla and Gerolama Scialla. She had siblings Katherine (Scialla) Christensen, Emil Scialla, and Sylvester Scialla. She was in a relationship with Thomas Livoti beginning 1941 in Kings County United States, and had children Josephine Joann (Livoti) Decrescenzo, Thomas John Livoti, and Geraldine (Livoti) Stagnitta. Ellen Livoti died at age 84 years old on April 21, 2001, and was buried at St. John’s Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.

In 1916, in the year that Ellen Livoti was born, suffragette Jeannette Pickering Rankin became the first woman elected to the House of Representatives as a Representative at large from Montana. She was the first woman to hold an elected Federal office. Holding the office for two years, she ran again in 1940 and served another two year term. Montana had granted women unrestricted voting rights in 1914, 6 years before women got the vote nationally.

In 1939, when she was 23 years old, on the 1st of September, Nazi Germany invaded Poland. On September 17th, the Soviet Union invaded Poland as well. Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
