Ellen Jane (Frew) Jemmett Young of Richmond, City of Yarra County, VIC Australia was born in 1886 in Richmond to Archibald Frew and Margaret Mcewan Frew. Ellen Jemmett Young had siblings Robert George Leslie Frew, William Leslie Frew, Adeline Christina Frew, William Thomas Frew, Margaret Amy Frew, Herbert John Leslie Frew, William Leslie Frew, William Thomas Frew, Theresa Frew, and Herbert Frew. She married Sydney Harold Jemmett in 1903. She would also marry George James Young. Ellen Jemmett Young died at age 87 years old in 1973 in Richmond.

In 1886, in the year that Ellen Jane Frew was born, on May 4th, a general strike began in Chicago. Workers were striking for an 8 hour workday and in protest of the killing - by police - of several workers the day before. When an unknown person threw a dynamite bomb, the strike became violent. Seven policemen were killed as well as 4 civilians. It became known as the Haymarket Riot and eventually resulted in an 8 hourwork day as well as commemorations on May 1st for worker's rights.
