    Elizabeth "Eliza" (Darcy) Howard was born to Jeremiah Darcy (1806-1876) and Matilda Quinlivan (1808-1901) in Newmarket Clare Ireland. She had twelve siblings: Nancy (born 1838), Maria (1839-1870), Annie Elizabeth "Nancy" (1841-1887), Honora (1842-1898), Daniel (1843-1900), Michael (1844-1919), Denis (1847-1930), Jeremiah (1849-1854), Thomas (1852-1899), Patrick (1855-1914), John Francis (1857-1901), and Matilda Darcy (1868-1961). Eliza and Patrick Daniel Howard (1830-1900) married on August 8th 1855 in St. Alipius, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, and they also would have twelve children. Mary Ann (1856-1856), William (1858-1934), Catherine (1860-1930), John Francis (1862-1918), Mary Ann (1864-1930), Patrick Phillip (1866-1920), James Cornelius (1868-1913), Michael Francis (1870-1917), Elizabeth (1872-1967), Margaret Mary (18750-1955), Alicia Agnes (1877-1941), and Daniel Mattious Howard (1880-1941).

In 1849, Elizabeth was just 12 years old when on April 22nd, Patrick Kennedy - great-grandfather of President John Kennedy - arrived in the United States. He was the 3rd born son of an Irish farmer and he knew that he wouldn't be given the chance to run the family farm. So he emigrated to Massachusetts and became a cooper. After only 10 years in the US, he died of cholera at age 35.
