Elizabeth (Blacker) Esler of Drouin, Baw Baw Shire County, VIC Australia was born in 1879 to Thomas Blacker and Mary Dobson Blacker. She had siblings Hannah (Blacker) Watkin, Mary Blacker Harvey, Margaret Blacker, Harriet Blacker, Ameila Jane Blacker, Thomas Blacker, Sarah Ann Blacker, Albert Blacker, Alfred Blacker, James Blacker, Charles Blacker, and Joseph Blacker. She married John Knox Esler in 1913, and had a child Elizabeth May Esler. Elizabeth Esler died at age 58 years old in 1937 in Drouin.

In 1879, in the year that Elizabeth Blacker was born, on October 22nd, Thomas Edison tested the first practical electric light bulb. Lasting 13½ hours before burning out, it used a "a carbon filament or strip coiled and connected to platina contact wires". He applied for a patent on November 4th, receiving the patent in January 1880.

In 1889, at the age of merely 10 years old, Elizabeth was alive when on March 31st, the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated. Because the elevators were not yet in operation, officials had to climb to the top of the tower - it took an hour. On May 15th, the Tower opened to the public - still without working elevators - but around 30,000 visitors still made the climb. The elevators went into operation on the 26th. The Tower wasn't considered aesthetically pleasing at the time but is now one of the most iconic structures in the world.
