Eleanor Blanche (Parris) Snell of Grove, Delaware County, Oklahoma United States was born on October 2, 1909 to Thomas Jefferson Parris and Lucille Rebecca Chastain. She had siblings Lyle Wilkerson Parris, Pauline Elizebeth Bohannon, and Thomas Parris. She married Albert Snell, and died at age 96 years old on August 11, 2006. Eleanor Snell was buried at Parris Cemetery in Cherokee County.

    Eleanor Blanche Snell of Grove died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was 96. Snell was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Tahlequah to Tom and Lucy (Chastain) Parris. She grew up in Tahlequah and received her education there. Before retiring in 1962 and moving to Grove, she worked as a dietician and nurse's aide for Chilocco Indian School. Snell was a charter member of the Grand Lake Baptist Church and was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Grove. She was a member of the Grand Lake O' The Cherokees Quilt Guild, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Ponca City Chapter of Order of Eastern Star and the Chilocco Alumni Association. She married Albert Snell on Feb. 28, 1940, in Newkirk. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lyle Parris. Survivors include one sister, Pauline Bohannon of Grove; a brother, Tom Parris and his wife Jean of Arkansas City, Kan., and two nephews, Tom Bohannon and his wife Connie of Grove and Jerry Bohannon and his wife Brenda of Tennessee. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Grove First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Wilder and the Rev. Lloyd Crawford officiating. Interment will be in the Olympus Cemetery in Grove. The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove.
