A photo of Edward Minor Fox, 1824-1888, [or Minor Fox as he was known in life] was a soldier in Co. I, 10th New York Cavalry during the Civil War. He enlisted August 30, 1862 at Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York for a term of 3 years. He was captured by a Rebel patrol in Middleburg, Virginia on June 19, 1863 and was taken to Richmond where he was confined in Libby Prison. Shortly thereafter they took him to Belle Island where he suffered great hardships. He was paroled from an Army parole camp sometime later in Annapolis, Maryland. He was discharged from the Army at Clouds Mills, Virrginia on July 19, 1865. He was married to Esther Vail, daughter of Moses and Patience (Sowle) Vail of Vail Mills, Fulton County, New York. They were the parents of six daughters.
