Dora L. Andrews was born in January 1881 in Tennessee United States to John Lewallen Andrews and Mary Elizabeth Walker Russell, and had siblings Homer Perry Andrews Sr., Otis Robert Andrews, May Matilda Andrews, Nina Minerva (Andrews) Stewart, and Edna Lorene (Andrews) Mims. She married Warren R. Sikes on October 11, 1899 in Erath County, Texas, and they were married until Dora's death in 1930. She had a child Irving M. Sikes. Dora Andrews was buried at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery 7301 E Lancaster Ave, in Fort Worth.

In 1881, in the year that Dora L. Andrews was born, on April 28th, Billy the Kid escaped from the Lincoln County Jail in New Mexico. He killed James Bell and Robert Ollinger in the escape and then stole a horse and rode out of town. On July 14th, Pat Garrett shot and killed Billy the Kid in Billy's friend's home near Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
