Dora Ezilda (Carter) Ward was born on May 17, 1888 to Simon Peter Carter and Harriet Elizabeth Benson. She was in a relationship with James W. Ward, and had children Leslie Ralph Ward, Raymond Wesley Ward, Elmer Randall Ward, Helen Fern Ward, Nadeen Evelyn Ward, Laverne Walter Ward, Chresta Ward, and Naomi Marie Ward. Dora Ward died at age 79 years old on May 31, 1967.

In 1939, Dora was 51 years old when on the 1st of September, Nazi Germany invaded Poland. On September 17th, the Soviet Union invaded Poland as well. Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
