Debora Sue (Blankenship) Tinnie was born on December 6, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma United States to Roy C Blankenship and Evelyn F (Hopson) Blankenship. She married Everett Alfred Tinnie on March 15, 1982, and they were married until Everett's death on January 13, 2009. She had children Crystal Michelle Tinnie, Andrea Lynn (Tinnie) Mercer, and Stacie Renee (Tinnie) McEntire. Debora Tinnie died at age 64 years old on September 7, 2022.

Orval Faubus had previously prevented the students from entering the school at the beginning of the term with the Arkansas National Guard - they blocked the door. President Eisenhower ordered federal troops - the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army - to guard the students and allow them entry.
