Dana Winston Leek was born on January 14, 1810 in Hamden, New Haven County, Connecticut United States to Thomas Leek and Rhoda Alling, and had siblings Abigail Leek, Michael Leek, Thomas Leek, David Leek, Russell Leek, Asa Leek, Horace Leek, Enos Leek, and Rhoda Leek. He married Abigail Goodyear, and had children Norman Goodyear Leeke, Grace W. Leeke, Dana Cornelius Leeke, Henry Winston Leeke, Julia Maria Leeke, Mary Abbie Leeke, Charlotte Rhoda Leeke, William Thomas Leeke, Sarah Jane Leeke, John Elbert Leeke, and Emma Elizabeth Leeke. Dana Leek died at age 83 years old on January 31, 1893 in Hamden, and was buried in February 1893 at Hamden Plains Cemetery. in Hamden.

  • Introduction

    Like his brother Horace, Dana later changed the spelling of his surname to Leeke. Based on a surviving photo of one of his sons who was a mining executive, Dana was about 70 inches tall. He wed on Nov.11,1832 in Hamden, Ct. to Abigail Goodyear ( a sister of Louisa who wed Horace Leek ) and had 10 children.
