    He was a great man and grandfather. A marine corps master gunnery sgt. 32 years in the corps. 3 wars and a love of beer. I remember him taking me and my sister on walks to the park when we were young and I remember the day he died. I loved him every minute in between.

In 1921, in the year that Conrad Fay Mchenry was born, on November 11th, the first burial was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The body of an unknown soldier - selected by Army Sgt. Edward F. Younger who was highly decorated for valor and received the Distinguished Service Cross in "The Great War" - was brought back from France (World War 1) and placed in the newly completed tomb. President Warren G. Harding officiated at the interment ceremonies.

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, a nuclear physicist born in New York, led the Los Alamos Laboratory that developed the actual bomb. The first artificial nuclear explosion took place near Alamogordo New Mexico on July 16, 1945.
