He had siblings Louis Robert Charles Johnstone, Cecil Henry Macgregor Johnstone, Reginald Vernon Alfred Johnstone, Ivy Louisa Elizabeth Johnstone, Hazel Eva Annie Johnstone, Herbert George Trevor Johnstone, Ernest Ray Clifford Gordon Johnstone, Percy Francis James Johnstone, and Clarence Albert John Johnstone. Clifford Johnstone married Daphne Wmina Primmer in 1934, and died at age 73 years old in 1987 in Terang.
