Charlie Palomarez, Po Charlie as I knew him, was my paternal grandfather. He and my grandmother, Angelita Salazar Palomarez, lived in Victoria, Texas until they passed away. Mo Charlie passed away first. We were living in Turkey at the time as my father, Juan Palomarez, was in the Air Force. My dad was the only one who was able to fly back to the US to attend her funeral. Po Charlie continued to live in Victoria until his death. I always remember him walking so upright. He was a tall man who was very kind and loving to me and my three siblings.
