  • Introduction

Grandpa was 13 or 15 when he joined the Army and promoted through the rank of Master Sergeant as a cook. He had two brothers and two sisters, Mae or May and Madeline. His father's name was Epifnio Foxen. His mother was Charlotte Gutierrez. Charlotte died from an a accidental shotgun wound to the abdomen by a family member when he laid the loaded hunting weapon down. She bled to death on the kitchen table before help could arrive. Grandpa and his two sisters went to live with his blind grandmother Frances. They strung twine around the home and property to make it easier for getting around. He met my grandmother Blanche Margaret Sonnet while stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming and married in 1924. In 1925 my father Francis was born. After grandpa bought his way out of the Army they moved around and finally settled in Watsonville CA. He was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christmas and I loved him so much. I miss you grandpa
