He had siblings Louis Robert Charles Johnstone, Reginald Vernon Alfred Johnstone, Ivy Louisa Elizabeth Johnstone, Hazel Eva Annie Johnstone, Herbert George Trevor Johnstone, Clifford Vane Noel Johnstone, Ernest Ray Clifford Gordon Johnstone, Percy Francis James Johnstone, and Clarence Albert John Johnstone. Cecil Johnstone married Margaret Marjorie Leishman in 1919, and died at age 73 years old on May 25, 1967 in Warrnambool.
