She was married to Gustaf Mazner on May 9, 1908, and had children John Mazner, Louis Mazner, Anna Marie (Mazner) Peterson, Helen (Mazner) Studden, Katherine V Mazner, Joseph Mazner, Margarette Ann (Mazner) Miller, Edward J Mazner, and Gus Louis Mazner. Catherine Mazner died at age 83 years old on July 17, 1970.

In 1887, in the year that Catherine (Benzala) Mazner was born, on January 20th, the US Senate gave the US Navy the right to lease Pearl Harbor as a naval base. Pearl Harbor is on the island of Oahu, a part of the Hawaiian Islands. The Navy was given direction to maintain "a coaling and repair station" at the harbor.

In 1924, Catherine was 37 years old when on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.
