He married Nellie Ray Cox, and they had children Sylvia Diane Cox, Roger Dana Cox, Michael Buman Cox, Jackie Lynn Cox, and Tony Gerald Cox. He also married Catherine Hughes Cox, and they had a child Tammie Cox Rymer. Buman Cox died at age 68 years old on April 3, 1997.
