Hiram M Dickson of Sterling, Logan County, CO was born on June 11, 1928 to Hiram Marion Dickson and Stella Alice (Boss). He married Shane Dickson on August 25, 1956 in Loveland, Larimer County United States, and had children Karen Lynn (Dickson) Good, Karol Jeanette Dickson, and Kent Irelan Dickson. Hiram Dickson died at age 73 years old on April 16, 2002.

In 1928, in the year that Bud Dickson was born, aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
