Two men jailed after Nicholas shooting death
The following article appeared in The Register-Herald on December 11, 2020 and was updated on July 29, 2014:

wo men were jailed after another man was shot to death in Nicholas County, police said.

Franklin Overbaugh, 41, of Summersville, allegedly shot 28-year-old Brian Darby of Summersville with a 12-gauge shotgun at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the residence of 38-year-old James Oliver Walker in Lockwood, Nicholas Sheriff Wetzel Bennett said.

Bennett said he had reason to believe Walker and Overbaugh were friends and had conspired to shoot Darby.

Darby was taken to Summersville Regional Medical Center. He was later airlifted to a Charleston hospital but died en route from the injuries sustained in the shooting, Bennett said.

Both Overbaugh and Walker were charged with murder and were being held at Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods without bond.

The incident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
