    Bobby Joe House was born on August 9, 1925 in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, USA to parents Isaac Arthur House (1887-1957) and Mary Magdalene Riley (1889-1938). He was part of a big family with siblings George, Thomas, Leonard, John, Herman, Arthur, Hazel, Edith, James, Mary, Elsie, and John House. He and his family moved to Dallas, Texas, USA in the 1930's. Bobby Joe registered for the military on his 18th birthday, August 9, 1943, in Dallas. At the time of his registration he was employed by E M Hobbs. On May 22, 1944, Bobby Joe House enlisted in the U.S. Army at Camp Wolters, Texas. He became a Private in the Army's Selectees (Enlisted Men) component and he served in the Army during World War II. After his time in service, on December 29, 1946 he married Martha Fay Koon (1927–2003) and together the couple had three children.

    Bobby Joe House, 76, Sarasota, died July 3, 2002. He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Muskogee, Okla., and came to Sarasota in 1945 from there. He was a retired mechanic and had served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Martha F.; a daughter, Mary Lou Peer of Sarasota; sons Randy A. and Arthur C., both of Sarasota; sisters Elsie of Las Vegas, Nev., and Hazel of Texas; a brother, John H. of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be later. Inurnment will be in Palms Memorial Park. Palms Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. In 1925, in the year that Bobby Joe House was born, in July, the Scopes Trial - often called the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher for teaching evolution in school. Tennessee had enacted a law that said it was "unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The teacher was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Tennessee upheld the law but overturned the guilty verdict.
