Bertha Sophia (Bretag) Harmer of Jeparit Australia was born on December 21, 1875 in Natimuk, Horsham Rural City County, VIC to Johann Ferdinard Bretag and Emma Caroline Schumann Bretag. She had siblings Annie Victoria Bretag and Gustav Alfred Bretag. She married James Herbert Harmer in 1897, and had children Louisa Victoria Harmer, Bertha Ellen Harmer, and James Gustav Harmer. Bertha Harmer died at age 69 years old on July 25, 1945 in Keith, District Council of Tatiara County, SA.
