She had siblings William Edward Henderson, David John Henderson, James Henderson, Bernice Victoria Henderson, Beatrice Cargill Henderson, Beryl Austin Henderson, Myrtle Moyle Henderson, and Rupert Seddon Henderson. She married Edmund John Thompson in 1921, and had a child Margery Bertha Thompson. Bertha Thompson died at age 71 years old on February 13, 1964 in Elwood, Port Phillip City County.

In 1903, at the age of merely 11 years old, Bertha was alive when the silent film, The Great Train Robbery opened. Although it was filmed in Milltown, New Jersey, it was a Western. Twelve minutes long, the film used a lot of innovative techniques - some scenes were hand colored and composite editing, on-location shooting, and frequent camera movement were used. Its budget was $150 (about $4000 currently) and was the most popular film until 1915 when Birth of a Nation was released.
