Bertha Mae (Wallace) Stowe was born on January 4, 1898 in Dry Fork, Virginia United States to Nathaniel Valentine Wallace and Julia Levada (Aaron) Wallace, and had siblings Raymond Daniel Wallace, George Lee Wallace, Naomi Eva Wallace Scearce Eanes, Fred Nathaniel Wallace, Boyd Edward Wallace, Helen Gould Wallace Jeffcoate Shumate, Douglas Dee Wallace, Louise Lavada Wallace Richardson, John Aaron Wallace, Julian Lee Wallace, and Catherine Wallace. She married William Thomas Stowe on December 23, 1913 in Pittsylvania County, and they were married until William's death on July 3, 1974 in Madison Heights, Amherst County. She had children James Cornelius Stowe, Jeremiah Ramsey Stowe, Julia Elizabeth Stowe Wilkes, William Herman Stowe Sr., Ruby Wallace (Stowe) Guill, Joel Octavis Stowe, Urannia Beatrice (Stowe) Pendleton, Caleb Nathaniel Stowe, and Ollie Mae (Stowe) Coleman Brooks. Bertha Stowe died at age 77 years old on February 13, 1975 in Madison Heights, and was buried on February 16, 1975 at Amherst Cemetery 105 Grandview Dr, in Amherst, Amherst County.

    Funeral Sunday For Mrs. Stowe The funeral of Mrs. Bertha Wallace Stowe, 77, of Madison Heights, Rt. 1 will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Virginia Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Amherst Cemetery in Amherst. The widow of the Rev. William Thomas Stowe died yesterday at her home. She was born at Dry Fork, VA, a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Julia Aaron Wallace. She was a member of Rock Pike Baptist Church and also attended the Full Gospel Mission. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Jack Wilkes and Mrs. J.T. Guill Jr. of Lynchburg, V.A., Mrs Warren Pendleton of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mrs. Ollie Coleman of Salem, VA.; five sons, James C., J.R. and Herman Stowe of Madison Heights, VA., Rt. 1, Joel O. Stowe of Winchester, VA., and Caleb N. Stowe of Charlottesville, VA.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Naomi Eanes of Niles, IL. Mrs. Berkley Richardson and Raymond Wallace of Danville, VA., and Douglas Wallace of Suffolk, VA. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m.
