    Barbara J. Towery, 47, 2632 E. Second St., died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Mrs. Towery was born Oct. 27, 1949 at Pittsburgh, Penn. She had been a resident of Joplin for five years, previously living in Webb City. She was a homemaker. She married Jimmy Lee Towery on Aug. 16, 1973 at Houston, Texas. He died May 4, 1986. Survivors include a son, Travis Towery, Joplin; her mother, Veronica Waugaman, Cheswick, Penn.; two brothers, Pat Waugaman and David Waugaman, Pittsburgh, Penn.; and a sister, Joyce Myers, Pittsburg, Penn. The body was taken for cremation. A private family burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
