    My Grandfather. I had a happy and wonderful memories with Lolo. The most generous person i know in the whole world who can sacrifice his own happiness just for us to be happy. A good provider in the family. Lolo you will never be forgotten. If only I can bring back time.. I pray that you will be with our Creator and in a happy place now with Lola. Please pray for me so I will be able to reach the star. I promise you that I will strive to be a better person. So you can be proud of me in heaven. I missed you Lolo. I will never forget the day that i lost you. It was a nightmare but because of that nightmare made me a stronger person despite of all the challenges i had because you are one of my inspiration to keep on moving and be grounded. I love you Lolo. You will never be forgotten. The person who can drive fast despite of his amputated feet, the person who assembled our our first car since 1972. - Ruby Rose B. Dumlao

Did you know?
In 1924, in the year that Arturo v Balatero was born, in May, wealthy college students Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb kidnapped and killed 14 year old Robert Franks "in the interest of science". Leopold and Loeb thought that they were intellectually superior and that they could commit the perfect crime and not be caught. They were brought in for questioning within 8 days and quickly confessed. Clarence Darrow was hired as their defense lawyer, getting them life imprisonment instead of a death sentence. Loeb was eventually killed in prison - Leopold was released after 33 years, dying of a heart attack at age 66.

In 1952, at the age of 28 years old, Arturo was alive when on July 2, Dr. Jonas E. Salk tested the first dead-virus polio vaccine on 43 children. The worst epidemic of polio had broken out that year - in the U.S. there were 58,000 cases reported. Of these, 3,145 people had died and 21,269 were left with mild to disabling paralysis.
