Arthur W. Madden was born in Harveysburg, Warren County, Ohio on April 27, 1850. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduated in 1872. Married Miss Mary E. Browne of Washington Courthouse, Ohio on May 29, 1878. Has three daughters, Eleanor and Ena, their second daughter Rowena died in infancy. Arthur was elected State Senator in 1899 for the senatorial district composed of Green, Clinton, Fayette, Highland and Ross counties and shared with Mr. Marchant the honor of representing that district in the Senate of the Seventy-Fourth General Assembly. In the Senate he was made chairman of the committee on fish culture and game and chairman of the committee on revision and was a member of several other committees in five of which he was secretary. He owned a elegant home and farm in Adams Township. He resided in Wilmington, Clinton, Ohio for a short period.
