Lark Arlie Yates was born on September 12, 1901 to Charlie J Yates and Julia (Lester) Yates, and had siblings Harvey Jerome Yates and Alvin Yates. He married Ora E Bishop Yates. He also married Ora (Bishop) Yates, and they had children Wilma (Yates) Marlowe, Elbert Yates, Dwayne Yates, and Mildred (Yates) Boatwright. Lark Yates died at age 90 years old on June 10, 1992.

Eleven teams were formed: the Akron Pros, Canton Bulldogs, Cleveland Indians, Dayton Triangles, Decatur Staleys, Hammond Pros, Massillon Tigers, Muncie Flyers, Racine Cardinals, Rochester Jeffersons and Rock Island Independents.
