    Eido Country 27 Jan. 2003 Mass of Christian Burial for Ann Svihovec, age 88, of Mott, was held at 10:30 AM Friday, January 24, 2003 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. William Cosgrove officiated with burial in St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery. Special music for the service was provided by Pat Schwartz, organist and Diane Vetter, soloist. Serving as casketbearers are Ann's grandchildren, Scott Beard, Broomfield, CO; Chandra Eborn, London, England; Ricarda Martin, Escondido, CA; Roxanne, Samantha and Cryrus Christenson, all of Portland, OR; Lane and Todd Boespflug, Hanford, CA; Daneen Enders, Las Vegas, NV; Kelly Impero, Everson, WA; Stacey Burge, Zillah, WA; Troy Gosney, Yakima, WA. All of Ann's 24 great grandchildren are considered honorary bearers. Anna Stella Pekas "Ann" was born April 13, 1914, at Lake Andes, South Dakota to Frank Sr. and Anna (Cerney) Pekas. As a young child, Ann moved with her parents to the Pekas Homestead northwest of Mott. The family moved to Scotland, South Dakota where she attended country school. After her schooling, the Pekas family returned to Mott where she helped her parents on the family farm. Ann was united in marriage to Otto Svihovec on September 12, 1933 at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Mott. Ann and Otto began their life together on a farm south of Mott where Celeste, Charlotte, and Estelle were born. In 1941, the Svihovecs purchased a farm northeast of Mott where Erleen was born. The family moved into Mott in 1951. Ann worked at the Mott Supply Company and later Auer's Variety Store. She was a talented artist, quilter and seamstress. One of her paintings was selected to hang in the Governor's Mansion for a year. Her children's and grandchildren's houses are blessed with Ann's quilts, crocheted goods, and oil paintings. Ann enjoyed gardening, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Ann passed away on Sunday morning, January 19, at her home in Mott at the age of 88. She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and for 19 years Ann volunteered at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center. Grateful for having shared her life are her 4 daughters and sons-in-law; Celeste and Bruce Beard, Banning, CA; Charlotte and Curtis Boespflug, Hanford, CA, Estelle and Jim Gosney, Newcastle, WA; Erleen and Larry Whitney, Washougal, WA; her 12 grandchildren and her 24 great grandchildren: Aubrey, Aurora, Austin, Chad, Chloe, Collin, Conrad, Kyle I, Kyle II, Lindsey, Madison, Mason, McxKenna, McKenzie, Mikaela, Morgan, Natasha, Nathan, Ricky, Ryan, Scott, Sophia, Tiffany and Tyler. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto on February 28, 1993; her sister Elsie Pekas; 6 brothers, Louis, Wesley, Frank, Charley, Clarence and Albert; and 1 great grandson, Jordan Enders.
