Andrew Ringin of Warragul, Baw Baw Shire County, VIC Australia was born in March 1889 in Drouin to David Ringin and Elizabeth Smyth Ringin. He had siblings Mary Ann (Ringin) Mcdonald, Elizabeth Robinson Elspeth Ringin, Marguerite Ringin, Grace Ringin Kenney, David Ringin Jr., and James William Ringin. Andrew Ringin died at age 40 years old on March 25, 1930 in Warragul, and was buried at Drouin Cemetery, 81 Weerong Rd, in Drouin.

In 1889, in the year that Andrew Ringin was born, on May 31st, the South Fork Dam collapsed. Located in western Pennsylvania, the dam failed - sending more than 20 million tons of water into the towns below it. The flood killed more than 2,200 people in and around Johnstown. The newly formed Red Cross responded to the disaster.

In 1891, at the age of just 2 years old, Andrew was alive when on June 25th, in the July issue of The Strand Magazine in London, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's character Sherlock Holmes appeared in a series of short stories for the first time.
