  • Introduction

    The Tei surname in Italy I have seen in research to be translated as linden tree. The earliest generation known in our family is Ubaldo Tei, dec. 1778-1785 in Gubbio. From then to present, the family always in Gualdo Tadino, vicinity of Perugia province of Umbria. Family tradition says early dynasty of Tei in Japan. Pronunciation in Italian one syllable tay as in hay or may. Could be pronounced with two syllables, Te - i, as in tay - ee.

Ziegfeld was inspired by the Folies Bergère of Paris and the show was a step up from the then current vaudeville shows.
