She had siblings Ida Betsy Mcpherson, Joseph William Bales, Dorothy Ellen Bales, Frank Stuart Bales, and Percy Wilfred Bales. Alice Moore married Cartrid Horace Moore in 1932, and died at age 86 years old on February 14, 1987 in Melbourne.

In 1900, in the year that Alice May Bales was born, Carrie Chapman Catt succeeded Susan B. Anthony as the president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. NAWSA was created by Anthony in 1890 in order to fight for the right of women to vote in the United States. Membership in NAWSA began at 7,000 and in the decades of the struggle - women didn't get the right to vote until 1920 - membership rose to 2 million.

In 1911, when she was merely 11 years old, the first Indianapolis 500 was run in May. Ray Harroun was the winner - he was an engineer and had retired from racing but he came back for this race. After the race, he retired for good. The purse was $27,550 - the largest offered up to that time - and Harroun received $10,000 for first place. His average time was 74.602 mph.
