Alice Dorine Humphrey 1922 - 1994

Alice Dorine (Jannke) was born on July 1, 1922 in Watertown, Jefferson County, Wisconsin United States to Wilhelm Friedrich Jannke and Sadie Ella Hoffner, and had siblings Jane Francis Jannke, Alan Lee Jannke, Doris Annette Jannke, Shirley LaVern Jannke, and William Fred Jannke. She married James Robert Humphrey, and had children Patrice Ann Humphrey, Thomas James Humphrey, and Julianne Marie Allender. Alice died at age 72 years old on September 24, 1994 in Rio, Columbia County, and was buried on September 26, 1994 at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

In 1922, in the year that Alice Dorine Humphrey was born, on James Joyce's 40th birthday, his book Ulysses was published in France. The book covers the experiences of an Irishman in Dublin on an ordinary day, 16 June 1904. Now considered a classic, it was controversial at the time.
