Alice Barbara Brechin was born on June 12, 1938 to parents Russell William Brechin (1907-1994) and Marie "Albertine" Goulet (1911-1993). She was one of 7 children in her family and was the first daughter born to her parents.
She grew up in Barre, VT and was a graduate of Spaulding High School there. She later went on to earc her Bachelor of Arts in classics from the University of Vermont, Burlington & her Master of Education from Keene State College in Keene, N.H, years later.
In her early years of teaching, she taught in Syracuse, N.Y. where she met her furure husband Robert “Whiety” Joseph O'Hearn (1932–2010). The two married on July 6, 1963 in Stowe, VT and went on to have 7 children of their own.
For many years, Mrs. O’Hearn taught English and Latin at Springfield High School (VT) & she taught Latin, Greek & English for 26 years at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, VT before finally retiring in June of 2007 at the age of 69.
Alice "Bertha" O'Hearn passed away on May 7, 2011 in Norwich, Windsor, Vermont, USA.

ALSTEAD, N.H. - Alice B. O'Hearn, 72, died May 7, 2011, at Valley Terrace in Wilder, Vt.
She was born June 12, 1938, in Barre, Vt., the daughter of Russell and Albertine (Goulet) Brechin.
She was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre and received her B.A. in classics from the University of Vermont in Burlington and her Master of Education from Keene State College in Keene.
Mrs. O'Hearn taught at Springfield (Vt.) High School and later, at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vt., teaching Latin, Greek and English for 26 years, retiring in 2007. In earlier years, she taught in Syracuse, N.Y., Derby, Vt., and Scituate, Mass. From 1983 to 2003, she worked for Granite State Marketing of Londonderry doing surveys.
Survivors include five sons, Sean of Orlando, Fla., Shannon of Douglas, Ariz., Scott of Fairlee, Vt., Todd of Newbury Park, Calif., and Ryan of Alstead; two daughters, Theresa of Denver, Colo., and Erin of East Boston, Mass.; two brothers, Wendell Brechin of Woodstock, Conn., and John Brechin of Lombard, Ill.; two sisters, Pauline Sherwood of Burlington, Vt., and Helen Ferrari of Modena, Italy; 11 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. O'Hearn, in 2010; and two brothers, Donald and Paul Brechin.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, Vt.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, at St. Peter's Church, North Walpole, with the Rev. Michael Gendron.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverbank Cemetery, Stowe, Vt.

Alice B. Brechin, Robert J. O'Hearn To Wed In July
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brechin, Cape Cod Road, Stowe, formerly of 181 Washington St.
Barre recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Alice Bertha Brechin, to Robert Joseph O Hearn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael OHearn, 1235 Jamesville Ave, Jamesville, N. Y.
Miss Brechin is a Spalding graduate. She received her B. A degree from the University of Vermont and is teaching Latin at North Syracuse Central High School.
O' Hearn was graduated from Nottingham High School and attended Phillips Andover Academy. He recieved his B. A. from Yale University and his M. A. from Boston University. He is a guidance counselor at Cohasset High School, Cohasset, Mass.
An early July wedding will take place in Stowe.
