Alexander Rollinson was born in 1865 to George Rollinson and Mary Ann Batty, and had siblings George Henry Rollinson, Arthur Frederick Rollinson, Bessie Rollinson, Susannah Rollinson, Mary Ann Rollinson, Agnes Rollinson, Lucy Jane Rollinson, Rose Rollinson, and Hetty Rollinson. Alexander Rollinson died at age 75 years old in September 1941.

In 1865, in the year that Alexander Rollinson was born, on December 24th, 8 months after the end of the Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan was formed in Pulaski, Tennessee by Jonathan Shank and Barry Ownby. They wanted to fight Reconstruction after the Civil War and to intimidate what were called "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags" - northern and southern whites who supported reconstruction. They also wanted to repress the newly freed slaves.
