Albert Leonard Catton of Malden, Middlesex County, MA was born on July 2, 1887 in Valparaíso, Valparaíso Province County, Valparaiso Chile to Walter Donald Catton and Annie Amelia Leland. He had siblings Kenneth Herbert Catton, Frederick Leland Catton, and Walter Robert Catton. He married Mary Francis Drinan, and had children Walter Donald Catton, James Russel Catton, Eleanor Catton, Eleanor Josephine Catton, Charles F Catton, and Anna Dorothy Catton. Albert Catton died at age 81 years old in September 1968.

In 1887, in the year that Albert Leonard Catton was born, on July 1st, the assembly for the supports of the Eiffel Tower began . A wrought iron lattice tower, it was designed and built by Gustave Eiffel - who also contributed to the building of the Statue of Liberty. There are 18,000 pieces in the Eiffel Tower - which had to be built separately and then assembled in place - with rivets - to complete the Tower.
