She had siblings Thomas Casserly, John Vincent Michael Casserly, and Donald James Casserly. Agnes Casserly married Robert Lawrence Burns on November 4, 1953 in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, and they were married until Agnes' death on May 16, 1976.

The origins of the fire are unknown but it killed 492 people - the deadliest nightclub fire in U.S. history. Hundreds more were injured.
