Agnes Louisa (Quarrell) Crosbie of Creswick, VIC Australia was born in 1860 in Castlemaine, Mount Alexander Shire County to George Quarrell and Sarah Currell Quarrell. She had siblings Charles William Querrell, Samuel Quarrell, Henrietta Quarrell, Charlotte Quarrell, Joseph Thomas Quarrell, Victoria Quarrell, Samuel Quarrel, Sarah Quarrell Wyatt, Alfred James Quarrell, Anna Crawford Quarrell, William John Quarrell, Edward John Quarrell, Elizabeth Alice Quarrell, and Charles Theodore Quarrell. She married Alexander Crosbie in 1887, and had children Elizabeth Alice (Crosbie) Felstead, David Young Crosbie, Francis Leslie Crosbie, Agnes Rubina (Crosbie) Rickard, Doris Irene Crosbie, and Donald Gordon Crosbie. Agnes Crosbie died at age 56 years old on May 9, 1917 in Creswick.

In 1877, when she was 17 years old, on March 2nd, the U.S. presidential election of 1876 was ended with the selection of Rutherford B. Hayes as the winner. Samuel J. Tilden had won the popular vote in November 1876 but 20 votes in the electoral college were in dispute. An informal agreement was made in which Hayes agreed to remove federal troops from South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana, ending Reconstruction in the South. So, on March 4th, Rutherford B. Hayes became the 19th President of the United States.
