    The Argus, Melbourne. 30th June 1866. SOLOMON. - On the 29th inst., at his residence, 77 Stephen-street, Melbourne, in the eighty-eighth year of his age, Aaron Solomon, formerly of Adelaide and Launceston.

In 1809, he was 29 years old when on December 30th, Boston Massachusetts banned the wearing of masks at balls. Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.

In 1814, he was 34 years old when mechanical engineer George Stephenson - who taught himself to read and write at age 18 - built the first practical steam locomotive. Named Blücher, the train was built to haul coal. It could haul 30 tons of coal up a hill at 4 mph.
