Walter McGeoch was born in Isleworth, Middlesex, England on April 28, 1856. He is the son of James Henry McGeoch II (1821-1885) and Charlotte Eliza Atlee (1826-1900). He had siblings John Alexander, Albert, James henry, Robert Atlee, Robert Stewart, William David, Margaret, Carlotte, John Alexander, Mary Ann, Anne Victoria, Charles Evelyn, and Vera McGeoch. He immigrated to Riverina, Australia at the age of 7. In 1885, he married Mary Hannah Polly Dunkerley (1860-1922) in Prahran, Victoria, Australia. The couple had daughters together; Ruby May (1887-1963), Ethel Constance (1889-1971), and Elsie Mary McGeoch (1891-1994). Walter was a foundation member of Urana Shire Council, a councillor for 20 years, and served as president two times. He was also chairman of the Pastures Protection Board and was a noted Shakespearian scholar.
Walter Anderson McGeoch is the son of Albert Atlee McGeoch (1862-1937) and Margaret Helen Anderson (1873-1930). He was born on April 15, 1900 in Albury, New South Wales, Australia. He married Jeanette Fraser McLaurin (1901-2001) on Janaury 29, 1926 in Rutherglen, Victoria, Australia at the Presbyterian Church. Their marriage was officiated by Rev S. Blair. The couple had a son together, Robert McLaurin McGeoch (1928-2017). Walter joined the Australian military on June 3, 1942 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. He was a member of 17 Battalion Volunteer Defense Corps and held the rank of Private. Walter was discharged on September 30, 1945.
