Finished 3rd grade 4 Yr. cobbler apprentice in Budapest Hungary. 1st child Stephen Hopkovic was born in Wilkes Barre Pa. Stephen died at age 3 in Wilkes Barre of acute indigestion followed by a fit. Story was he had been eating 'green' (unripe?) apples. 2nd child was the lovely, thick auburn haired, Josephine who worked at the Silk mill in Luzerne Co. Pa. She loved to dance. She died of fallopian T.B. at age 24. (autopsy, yes.) next daughter Anna (Palick) no children, who worked at the silk mill. She purchased a home Plymouth Pa. She was a sturdy woman & lived to age 100. Anna was not married long as her husband a Chef did not like to work. Another daughter, Marjorie (Lieby) very feminine. Daughter Helen (Zatorski) B: abt. 1916. She married John Francis Zatorski a WW 2 Vet They had no children. Helen died in 1973 & is buried at St. Joseph Slovak Catholic Cemetery in Nanticoke Pa. John worked for the Cigar Mill in Berwick Pa. John died in June of 1982 & is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Nanticoke, Pa. John Hopko & Mary's youngest daughter Emily (Sheppeck) lived on Enterprise St. in Nanticoke with her husband and only child Paul, who was extremely talented and did the sets for one of the long lasting popular day time soaps in Hollywood. Emily was a pretty woman, very sweet, gentle and kind. Paul did not have children. My Great Uncle John Hopko had a wonderful sense of humor, was down to earth and a good man. He had brown eyes and hair, not too tall. He migrated to Port of N.Y. to meet with his father Josef & brother in law Mr. Pendras who were working in Wilkes Barre making beer barrels as coopers to earn money to purchase a farm back in Presov Slovakia where both his mother Helen (Hricka/Hricz) his sister's Anna & Maria, & brother Ladislav were living. John arrived in N.Y on the ship PANNONIA on May 21 1906 at the age of 18. This ship was later sold for scrap.John had left at the Port of Fiimicinio, I believe in Croatia. John had $21.00 on him when arriving. John had been baptized at a Slovak Catholic Church in Slovakia on May 06 1888. Johns sister Anna B: 9-24-1886 Passed on on May 21-1968. Anna arrived on Jan 10th 1907 on the S.S. Carpathia to join her dad Josef and her younger brother Josef Jr. She settled in Ashley, Pa & married John Mihalcik a car mechanic. She had sons and a daughter Mary. They all had children. Mary married James Leo Cusick & she died as a young woman. Her mother Anna Mihalcik is buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Hanover Township. Pa. Many of God's loving Blessing for this family.
