John Justice Disosway was born on August 19, 1922 in New Bern, North Carolina, USA to parents William Justin Disosway (1893-1950) and Bertha Estelle Simpkins (1892-1924). He registered for the draft on June 30, 1942, in New Bern, North Carolina, at the age of 19 and then enlisted in the Army on November 7, 1942, at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was assigned to the Air Corps and he held the rank of Private in the Army of the United States. On November 25, 1950 he married Elizabeth Hortense Harrell (1920–2007) in Suffolk, Virginia, USA. The couple had a daughter and a son, John Justice Disosway Jr (1959-1984).

In 1943, John Schenck Disosway Jr married Patricia Lee "Patty" Lindsley (1922–1988) in Broward County, Florida, USA. The couple had three children together: Mark Disosway (1944-), John Schenck Disosway III (1947-), and Ann Disosway. John Schenck Disosway Jr. served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He enlisted on January 19, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, as an Aviation Cadet in the Army of the United States. He was assigned to the 39th Bomb Squadron, AAF 6th (VH) and served with the Army Air Corps throughout the war. Disosway was discharged on January 11, 1946, after serving for more than three years. He later moved to Hollywood, Broward, Florida, USA and passed away on March 10, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. He was co-pilot of Delta DC-4 air craft that crashed on take-off from a Chicago airport.
