Evelyn is my mother. She was a very sweet and loving woman. She loved to travel with her husband. They took three cruises to Alaska. My mother loved going to Alaska. They were married 60 and 1/2 years when mom passed away. They had a loving marriage. My dad loved her up until the day she died. The only time I saw dad cry was at her funeral. She never worked her whole life. She stayed at home, took care of the house and took care of me. She was a full blooded Norwegian. Every year at Christmas time she would bake Norwegian cookies and other Norwegian goodies. She was a wonderful cook and oh could she bake pies. People would come to our house just so they could have a taste of my mother's delicious pies. I remember one time when she baked a pie. We were going to have company. She was taking the pie over to the oven to bake it. It fell out of her hands and on to the floor. She yelled at me, "Get out here and help me. Company is coming in one half hour and I have to get another pie baked." So, here we were in the kitchen the two of us peeling apples for another pie. We had to hurry. It was fun watching her bake those delicious pies she enjoyed making. I miss my mother and wish I could see her again.
