Donald (Don) Houston Tallent was born September 29, 1930, in Bethany, Oklahoma. He was the son of Carl Donald Tallent and Helen Marie Effinger. He married Ruth Charlotte Deihl on February 21, 1953. She preceded him in death in April 2021. Don and Ruth had four children Janice Boyt of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Brian Tallent of Houston, Texas, Scott Tallent of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Lynn Tallent of Delta, Colorado. They had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Don was a proud Korea era veteran of the United States Air Force. Donald loved to repair things from cars to roads. He was always looking for a way to improve things. He owned several successful businesses and retired to Hotchkiss, Colorado at the ripe old age of 53. Don took great pride in his family history growing up in the Delta, Colorado area. He was an avid storyteller and loved history of the west in the 1800’s and the 1900’s. They moved to Coquille Oregon close to the Oregon coast in 2000 where he loved to fish in the ocean off the coast. He enjoyed traveling to the wilderness areas in Alaska, Canada and the western United States. Don died peacefully in his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma on October 21,2022. A memorial service is planned in the spring of 2023 in Delta Colorado.
