Based on known records that this writer has seen, a 100% correctness can't be a sure thing. Because some sites have Asa listed as a son of Samuel Leek & Sarah Mathis, this writer has gone along with that. Asa wed on Aug.4,1808 in Warren County, Oh. to Sarah Swanger and had 10 children. Because of a decision ( exactly when and why is unknown ) Asa dropped the " Leek" in his name and his children all had the surname of Brown. Because of this particular type of setup involving the descendants of Philip Leek ( 1611-1676 ) with the Leake, Leek, or Leeke surname, the children of Asa and his wife will not be included here.
